We’ve had a request for a week-long tour on rail trails, and here it is! Come join us up north in lower Michigan as we enjoy 6 days/5 nights of touring on rail trails between Charlevoix and Mackinaw City.

This tour is designed for your comfort and fun

We’ve planned for two nights in Petoskey, two nights in Mackinaw City, and one in Indian River. Our route plans include: Monday, ride the Little Traverse Wheelway to Charlevoix and back, about 32 miles total, 90% on rail trail; Tuesday, overland to Mackinaw City via the Little Traverse Wheelway and the North Central State Trail, about 38 miles mostly rail trail; Thursday Mackinaw City to Cheboygan to Indian River via the North Central State Trail, about 38 miles; and Friday, return to Petoskey, about 21 miles. Wednesday we have a layover day in Mackinaw City allowing you time for self-guided exploration which might include the ferry ride to Mackinaw Island for the day, or shop an relax in town, or join your tour staff for a road ride out to Wilderness State Park and back.

In total we have a minimum of about 130 miles inn-to-inn over 4 riding days, plus a layover in Mackinaw City with as much optional riding as you need. Each day we have additional self-guided routes available so you can boost your mileage for the week!

Petoskey is a great city to start in due to a great variety of support services. Excellent bike rental is available for both e-bikes and analog bikes. In addition, dining options are wonderful, and air connections are easy at Pellston Regional Airport.

We’ve designed our routes to take advantage of as many paved rail-trails as possible. Final routes are expected to be over 80% on rail trail, the remainder focused on quiet country roads.
